Ibiza Echoes presents its most ambitious event yet: SUN SETS x IBIZA. This special celebration honors the legacy of the legendary José Padilla, the godfather of chill-out and a pioneer of Ibiza’s sunset culture, who sadly passed away on October 18, 2020. The event takes place on August 21st at Sa Punta des Molí and Eden Ibiza, offering a unique day-to-night experience.

A Daytime Tribute at Sa Punta des Molí

Beginning at 7 PM, Sa Punta des Molí, an authentic Ibizan cultural space, will host a beautiful tribute. Picture a serene sunset over the bay of Sant Antoni, soundtracked by music from Padilla’s personal collection. This isn’t simply a DJ set; it’s a journey through the musical mind of a legend.

Spinning the vinyl will be some of Padilla’s closest collaborators: Phil Mison, his partner-in-crime from the Café del Mar golden years; Andy Wilson, a key figure in the Balearic scene and a lifelong friend; DJane Tsunami, who worked alongside Padilla for many years; and Yawa Zé, his protégé in his later years. The event promises an unforgettable trip through the selections of one of history’s most influential music curators.

In addition, the Ibiza Vinyl Club is hosting a vinyl market, offering a chance to celebrate this iconic music format and discover unique finds.

An Evening Celebration at Eden Ibiza

As the sun sets, the celebration moves to Eden Ibiza at midnight. Prepare for a 100% vinyl party! Iconic island DJs will delve into their collections. They’ll share not just hits, but also the tracks that have defined Ibiza’s dancefloors: timeless grooves, personal classics, and the sounds that have shaped the island’s nightlife for decades. Each set will be a chapter, weaving together different perspectives into one story: the living, breathing, historical musical soul of Ibiza.

Organized by Ibiza Echoes with the support of DIPEF, EarthPercent Ibiza (the climate foundation co-founded by Brian Eno), and Eden Ibiza, 100% of the proceeds—including voluntary donations, drink sales, and Eden tickets—will go to sustainability projects on the island and the preservation of its musical heritage.
