Amnesia Ibiza Turns 50: Half a Century of Keeping the Dancefloor Sacred

In a world of constant change, some things remain a vital, thumping constant. Amnesia Ibiza, the island’s bastion of underground clubbing, is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026. This isn’t just a birthday; it’s a powerful statement from a club that has defined dance culture for generations with a clear message: “Ibiza Changed. We didn’t.”

A Legacy Built on Music, Not Poses

Since opening its doors in 1976 as a humble finca for hippies and hedonists, Amnesia has championed an ethos that prioritizes the experience over the image. It was here that DJ Alfredo pioneered the eclectic Balearic Beat, a sound that would define the island. While Ibiza evolved into a global brand, Amnesia doubled down on its core values: the room, the music, and the people. This 50th-anniversary celebration is a tribute to that unwavering commitment, a year-long series of events designed to honor the club’s past while shaping the future of authentic nightlife. It’s a rebellion against fleeting trends, reminding us that genuine feeling is timeless, while everything else is just noise.

The Celebrations Begin: Two Unmissable Nights

The anniversary year kicks off with two monumental events that perfectly encapsulate the club’s spirit. The first is a special edition of its acclaimed techno party, Pyramid, timed perfectly with the International Music Summit (IMS).

Pyramid IMS Special Edition: A Meeting of Legends

On Friday, April 24th, Pyramid will set the tone for the entire season. The event reinforces its reputation as a haven for those who see clubbing as a collective ritual, not a performance. Headlining the iconic Terrace are two artists who are part of Amnesia‘s very fabric: Sven Väth and Luciano. Papa Sven’s legendary Cocoon residency at Amnesia was a cultural movement that introduced and solidified techno on the island for nearly two decades. Their presence isn’t just a booking; it’s a homecoming. They are joined by the impeccable grooves of Saoirse and CAAL. Meanwhile, the Main Room will descend into powerful, immersive techno with Deborah De Luca, Shlomo, Clara Cuvé, and Katnada.

The Official 50th Anniversary Opening Party

Then, on Saturday, May 9th, the official opening party promises to be one for the history books. Amnesia‘s opening and closing fiestas are the stuff of legend, marathon events known for their electric atmosphere until well after the sun comes up. This year’s lineup is a showcase of the club’s diverse musical identity, spread across its two revered spaces.

  • The Terrace: A haven for house and tech-house lovers, the sunrise on the Terrace is a quintessential Ibiza experience. The space will be commanded by titans like Joseph Capriati, Seth Troxler, and FUSE founder Enzo Siragusa, alongside Marco Faraone, Max Dean, Josh Baker, Fleur Shore, Luke Dean, Ceri, CAAL, and Mar-T.
  • The Main Room: A darker, more intense cavern of sound, the Main Room will pulse with formidable techno. Driving the energy will be Amelie Lens, the explosive duo 999999999, Alan Fitzpatrick, Fatima Hajji, Luca Donzelli, and Luxi Villar.

A Future Forged in the Past

This 50th anniversary is more than just a party; it’s a declaration. By placing established legends alongside emerging talent, Amnesia reaffirms its role as a vital platform for electronic music. It’s a reminder that in a world obsessed with the new, some legacies are worth preserving. The club’s philosophy remains as potent today as it was five decades ago: the dancefloor is equal ground, a place to get lost, to connect, and to let go. With a full year of anniversary events yet to be announced, the message is clear. Are you ready to be part of what comes next?
